10 minute play

[Isabelle is sitting on the roof of her house trying to get away from the party she
begins to stare away at the stars above drowning out the noise from below then she
tries to find the brightest star of all so she begins to reminisce but
then is interrupted by an obnoxious laugh from josh]
[ Isabelle tries to sneak away but josh sees her]
JOSH: Isabelle bell!??!!!!!!!
[Isabelle sits back down]
ISABELLE:[sighs] oh hey? What are you doing up here?
[ JOSH begins to climb up to get to the roof
and got up and came to sit next to ISABELLE]
JOSH: [smiles] oh just came to-
ISABELLE: check on me I know
JOSH: who said that!? Uh???? hm I came up here to get away from the noise
and I thought some jerk kidnapped you-
ISABELLE: I know your lying its okay I was getting pretty lonely
[Josh turns away and it gets quiet again no sound
but only from the sound of Isabelle uneven breathing and
music from below]
JOSH:[takes a deep breathe] How are you-
ISABELLE:[faded smile] don't bother. Please?
[Josh takes off his jacket and puts it over Isabelle]
JOSH: its cold out here you should really be inside you know...
ISABELLE:hey can I ask you something?
JOSH: yes you can-
[Kari josh girlfriend is shouting for josh]
KARI: josh!!!!! where the hell are you!??????
[josh faces Isabelle grabs something out of his pocket then grabs
her hand slipping a note under her hand he gets up and climbs
off the roof Isabelle sits there quietly and unmoved no sound
but the wind begins to blow]
JOSH: Kari? I'm right behind you...
KARI: wow you jerk you would be out here leaving me with all those guys.
JOSH: but-
KARI: DONT YOU BUT ME. Lets go inside
[Kari and josh voice slowly fade as they walk farther away.
Now yet again ISABELLE is on the rooftop alone]
ISABELLE:
[sighs and begin to open the note before she can read it
its blown away by a gust of wind]
I still have his jacket
[smiles a little but lays down and begins to search for the star
again but falls asleep right there on the roof and so she begins
to dream away]
[ a beautiful voice is whispered into ISABELLE ear ]
[opens her eyes to a bright warm sun]
ISABELLE: whoa! where am I?
[ISABELLE gets up and off the bed looking in the mirror
see's herself in a wedding dress and begins to cry then feels a warm hand hold her from behind]
SAM: whats the matter beautiful?
[turns around and hugs SAM and begins to sob]
ISABELLE: I had a bad dream that's all just glad to see you here.
SAM: hm. Now now its okay I'm here
ISABELLE: Don't ever leave me again while I'm asleep got it
SAM: mm hm.
[grabs ISABELLE hands leads her back to the wedding
and begins to slow dance]
just hold on to me and let me lead.
ISABELLE: okay.
SAM: I know it's been rough for you and everything I just want to say-
[ ISABELLE kisses SAM and shuts him up]
ISABELLE: shut up and just hold me okay??!
SAM: I just wanted to say I have to go, I'm not coming back I cant be here just let me go
[ISABELLE begins to cry]
ISABELLE: whats wrong with you?!
[touches ISABELLES face and wipes her tears away.]
SAM: I did love you okay. But lets face it-
ISABELLE: your right here.! Your still here.... I'm wearing my wedding dress
this is the day we are getting-
SAM: I'm not the one you married!
ISABELLE: then how come your wearing the wedding room I picked out.
SAM: Belle! Listen to me I'm not here I really-
ISABELLE: If your not here how come I can feel you???
SAM: he's waiting for you Isabelle and he loves you as much as I did
and lets face it I'm dead.
ISABELLE: if your dead how come I feel you holding me
[ISABELLE begins to shiver and holds onto SAM closer]
SAM: goodbye Isabelle.
ISABELLE: wait don't go.
[SAM kisses ISABELLE on the forehead and holds her one more time and pushes her away]
[ISABELLE is waken by a soft hand cradling her face
but is shivering from the cold air and is being held]
JOSH: [whispering] Belle belle..i loved you from the start
Sam was my best friend and he was you fiance he's gone now I want to be here for you
just please wake up I need you now.
ISABELLE: [breathes heavily] josh?
JOSH: no.! Uh yeah its josh
ISABELLE: you-
JOSH: We're still on the roof you fell asleep and I tried talking to you while you slept
and so I decided to hold you... not bad huh?
ISABELLE: did you watch me this whole time while I slept?
JOSH: you caught me... Yes I was
ISABELLE: I don't want you to leave me while I'm sleeping okay
JOSH: I wont
